Oman Traditional Boats Project - Based at the Western Australian Maritime Museum, the project was conceived in an attempt to document in detail the existing traditional boats of the Sultanate of Oman, to examine the traditional maritime culture, its language and its people, to preserve a record of the boats and equipment used, and if possible, save significant examples of various types of vessel. The project has now also developed a dimension of underwater archaeology, with surveys being made in the hope of discovering significant ancient artefacts or wreck sites |
